Toy Chest Episode 4: Metal Gear Solid vs Power Rangers: Dinozord’s Demise

Red Ranger in Dragon Shield

Creative Info: To further development on the series, I began taking the series out of the “fake commercial” box I set initially and turned it into episodic content. For that, I thought it only natural to bring in other big names to the series. I felt the most opposite crossover for them was Snake from MGS. His tactical stealthiness would clash quite nicely compared to the loud, flashy combat of the Rangers. Plus, him seeing the ridiculous zord transformations for the first time would be fucking hilarious. I also had the chance to discover the talent of SpeedRacerFiber who is another YouTuber and voice actor that happens to have one of the most hilarious Snake impressions ever.

MGS vs MMPR

Braggarts Corner: I posted on GameTrailers as well and it was an instant smash with the community, going so far as to be chosen as Featured Movie of the Week.

Toy Chest Episode 3: Power Rangers Ultrazord Banned Toy Commercial

Power Rangers Toy Theater

Creative Info: The third episode of our Power Rangers toy spoofs. This is where I start to cross over into gaming territory. Imagine the Green Ranger as a spoiled WoW jerk who hates being told he’s wrong, trying to operate his zord with PC video game controls while having the Red ranger school him like a little bitch over Vent or Teamspeak.

Technical Info: I shot this while experimenting with my vintage Iscorama 36 anamorphic lens, which is what causes the 2.35:1 aspect ratio, organic lens flares and unique oval bokeh.

Toy Chest Episode 2: Power Rangers Dragonzord Banned Toy Commercial

Power Rangers Toy Theater

Creative Info: The second episode of our Power Rangers toy spoofs. Imagine the Green Ranger as a sailor mouthed jerky asshole who hates being told he’s wrong. The Dragonzord toy was always special to my heart. You know it’s almost everyone’s favorite zord and it’s no wonder this ended up being the most popular video in the series. It’s on its way to 1 million views with its current rate of acceleration and you’re all helping to get it there. Nothing says “we want more power rangers” than increasing the view count to this instant classic video. What do you think?

Vengeance Rides a Train – Dude where’s my new Episode?

In early 2009 Akira and I posted Vengeance Rides a Train on youtube. It was embedded in a few sites, and generally received good attention and reviews from the people that watched it. Generally the biggest complaint was the “jello cam” effect which is going to be so retro in 10 years. After posting this, we started getting asked when the next episode was coming. Months went by, scripts were written, (we have next 3 episodes written and ready to be filmed). The problem? Budget. Without at least 1.5 million views on the first episode, it makes it financially un-viable to launch a second episode. The hits are needed in order to at least put a down payment on financing of a second and third episode. We did however create a couple of mini teasers for a second episode, which also have received a fair amount of hits. So if comes down to our fans. If you want to see a second episode, help us help you. (Yes, imagine Tom Cruise in your mind saying that) Post the original around to various websites, help us get it to at least a million views and we will deliver a second episode that will blow you away. Literally. You monitor will explode from the sheer incredibility of what is happening on screen.

Toy Chest Episode 1: Power Rangers Megazord Banned Toy Commercial

Power Rangers Toy Theater

Creative Info: The first episode of our Power Rangers toy spoofs. If the Power Rangers were a bunch of spoiled idiot trolls in real life this might be what it would be like. Making fun of them and celebrating them at the same time. I just remember racing to Wal-Mart to be the first to grab these zord toys off the shelves before they were snatched up by the other kids because they’d only get 3 in at a time.

Technical Info: I shot this while experimenting with my vintage Iscorama 36 anamorphic lens, which is what causes the 2.35:1 aspect ratio, organic lens flares and unique oval bokeh.
