TEO-5 VINTAGE COLLECTION — LISTENING REVISION R3
12 October 2026

128 new Roland-derived interpretations replace the 128 factory-derived "+"
programs in USER banks 5-C. Banks 1-4 contain your corrected Oberheim patches;
banks D-G retain the corrected CS-80 section, including its six revised sounds.
Factory memory is not part of this transfer.

LATEST REVISION R3 — ALL FIVE AUDITIONED AND APPROVED
110 XA Celeste and 310 XA Celeste Echo now use an octave upper oscillator
instead of a major seventh. You confirmed both now sound right.
514 J60 Clavichord 1 and 605 J60 Low Strings use the approved 507-style
gentle delayed vibrato in place of the earlier sync-only fix. 605 keeps its
slow pulse-width motion on a separate LFO, with wheel vibrato still available.
907 JX Stabbrass2 has its oscillators tuned together, its unwanted pitch bend
removed, and gentle delayed vibrato on both oscillators. You confirmed these
three sound "much better!!"
All five programs were saved, read back and recalled successfully.

CUMULATIVE LISTENING REVISIONS
All 128 Roland programs were audited during R2. There are now 38 distinct
programs revised through listening feedback: 36 Roland and 2 Oberheim.
LFO1 Sync remains enabled on 516 and 606.
505, 507, 514, 605, 615, 616, 702, 802, 907 and C06 use gentle delayed vibrato.
607 and A01 have reduced automatic pitch modulation. Short piano, bell and
pluck tails are extended; selected bass and string sounds gain held-note body.
709 Steel Drums has a new TEO FM voicing with a ringing decay.
R2.1 shortens 709's amplifier decay slightly (195 to 185 on the panel scale)
and lowers that patch one octave, following your further listening feedback.
C06's delayed-vibrato timing and depth are approved. Patch names and locations
are retained; 709 is the only patch-transpose change in the listening revisions.
R3 separately corrects oscillator intervals inside 110, 310 and 907.
R2.2 replaces the unsuccessful sync-only fix on 507 J60 Piano 1 with shallow
delayed vibrato using the C06-approved delay, fade and rate settings. Its
original piano envelope and register are preserved. You confirmed: "Yes,
this fixes it."
See Listening_Changes.txt for the latest changes followed by earlier history;
R3 supersedes earlier notes for the same patches. The R2 audit files document
the earlier 128-program audit. Other programs still have varying levels of
listening validation, as recorded in the guide and revision records.

FILES
TEO5_Vintage_R3_5_Fixes.syx reloads only 110, 310, 514, 605 and 907.
TEO5_Vintage_R3_All_38_Revisions.syx reloads all 38 programs revised since R1.
TEO5_507_J60_Piano_1_R2_2.syx reloads only the approved USER program 507.
TEO5_709_Steel_Drums_R2_1.syx reloads only the refined USER program 709.
TEO5_Roland_R2_35_Fixes.syx reloads only the 35 revised USER programs.
TEO5_Roland_128_BANKS_5-C.syx replaces only USER banks 5-C.
TEO5_Vintage_256_FULL_USER_MEMORY.syx loads the complete updated USER memory.
Banks_16_Patches contains individually addressed 16-patch bank files.
Audition_Edit_Buffers contains single temporary patches; these do not save to
memory until you use the synth's Write function.
Patch_Guide.html is a searchable catalogue with individual sources and controls.
Patch_Catalog.json provides detailed provenance and source settings.
Hardware_Verification.json records the saved-program readback checks.

TRANSFER
All revisions have already been saved directly to this TEO-5's user memory.
The five R3 programs were freshly read back and recalled after writing.
All 256 captured saved-program readbacks match the complete updated SYX file.
This confirms data storage and format compatibility, not acoustic equivalence.

To reload later, choose a stored-program SYX file above in a SysEx sender,
select TEO-5 USB MIDI output, enable MIDI SysEx On and set SysEx Cable to USB
on the synth. Use about 300 ms between complete patch messages. The full file
contains 256 messages of 4,695 bytes; the Roland replacement contains 128,
the latest R3 file contains 5, and the cumulative revision file contains 38.
The bank
and program destinations are embedded; the currently selected patch does not
redirect a stored-program bank transfer. Do not send both files unnecessarily.

PLAYING
Start with 501 J60 Strings 1, 504 J60 Organ 1, 513 J60 Bass 1,
701 J106 Moving Strings, 801 J106 Synth Bass I, 901 JX Cathedral,
B01 JP8 Neg Sync, B05 JP8 Cars Sync, and C02 SH Funky Bass.
The new patches use wheel vibrato and pressure brightness; some also have
source-specific motion. SH programs are one-voice mono. Most polys retain
the TEO-5's five voices. No arpeggiator or sequencer starts automatically.

REGISTER AND VINTAGE
Neutral patch transpose is encoded correctly as 2. Several source recipes
intentionally use 16-foot or 4-foot registers. The guide lists stored transpose
and oscillator offsets separately; a -1 setting can be an intentional source
register. There is no bank-wide accidental octave-down setting.
Base Vintage values: Juno-60 42/127, Juno-106 28/127, JX-8P 38/127,
Jupiter-8 66/127, SH-101 52/127. 709 uses 24/127 for a clearer struck pitch.
DCO-inspired sounds are deliberately tighter.

WHAT THE CONVERSION PRESERVES — AND ITS LIMITS
These are playable TEO-5 interpretations, not exact Roland emulations or an
objectively ranked "best" bank. Junos use decoded factory parameters; JX tones
use actual source SysEx. Jupiter and SH recipes use visually read diagrams.
Waveform choices, envelopes, polarity, gate behavior, mixing and modulation
relationships guide the designs. Each source recipe is identified in the guide.

The TEO's two-pole state-variable filter differs from the Roland filters;
filter cutoff, resonance, envelope timing/depth and LFO scales are approximate,
not measured acoustic matches. Chorus uses the TEO's own algorithm. Some
source HPF settings are omitted where chorus occupies the single effect slot;
otherwise a global digital HPF approximates them. Source delayed-LFO behavior
is generally omitted; the ten revised delayed-vibrato patches instead use a TEO
envelope to bring in the actual pitch-modulation route. Their delay aims for
roughly 1-2 seconds but is not measured or calibrated; please judge the onset
by ear. JX envelope key scaling is omitted and dynamics curves are simplified. JX
near-centre coarse tuning (raw 56-72) is normalized to unison; other coarse
offsets are rounded. This is a disclosed voicing decision, not a verified JX
ADC conversion table. Source-dependent compromises appear per patch.

All 128 synthesis blocks are distinct, excluding their names, effects,
Vintage and volume. Byte checks cannot prove that every patch sounds right.
On 12 October 2026 you approved the original previews 501, 701, 901 and C01:
"they sound great!" Your later detailed review led to R2, including an extended
C01 envelope. 501, 701 and 901 remain as approved. You subsequently confirmed
C06's delayed-vibrato timing and depth. 709 received the requested shorter
decay and lower octave in R2.1. You also confirmed the R2.2 correction of
507 J60 Piano 1 fixes its pitch-motion problem. All five R3 revisions were
subsequently approved as well. Other revised sounds are not individually
confirmed, and the full bank has not received complete
listening validation. Your requested broad classic Roland mix is retained.
