About this film
This early college-era short predates the Duffer brothers’ Stranger Things. Mark Nicholson edited and color-graded the original film, with a score by Akira Wing.
The restoration began with a 480i source, which was deinterlaced to progressive video. Multiple upscaling and downscaling passes with Topaz Video AI’s Starlight v4 produced the 4K presentation.
A custom 16mm grain plate inspired by Kodak Vision 2, together with color restoration, was used to preserve the character of the film. This edition is an upscale of the surviving video, rather than a new scan of the negative.
