Classic synth character, reworked for the TEO-5. A complete 256-patch collection built around broad Oberheim brass, shimmering Roland strings, compact mono sounds, and expressive CS-80-inspired textures.
For the Oberheim TEO-5 hardware synthesizer. Includes the complete user-memory file, individual banks, and a patch guide.
01The sounds
The collection brings together 64 Oberheim interpretations, 128 Roland interpretations, and 64 CS-80-inspired patches. It spans brass, strings, pads, basses, leads, organs, synthetic pianos, bells, and plucked sounds, with room for both familiar keyboard parts and slower cinematic playing.
- Oberheim: OB-Xa factory patch recipes provide the foundation for bold brass, warm ensembles, keyboard sounds, and expanded variations. The TEO-5’s Vintage control adds movement and voice-to-voice character.
- Roland: a broad mix drawn from the Juno-60, Juno-106, JX-8P, Jupiter-8, and SH-101. Expect chorus strings, rounded basses, sync leads, bright keys, and leaner mono patches.
- CS-80: expressive brass, sustained strings, organs, and atmospheric textures inspired by the instrument’s sound and playing style. Slow swells and pressure response make this the collection’s most cinematic section.
02Inside the banks
Each user bank holds 16 patches. Locations follow the TEO-5’s display: 101 is bank 1, patch 01; C06 is bank C, patch 06.

| 7–8 | Roland Juno-106 | 32 |
| 9–A | Roland JX-8P | 32 |

03Made for the TEO-5
The older patch sheets and program data are starting points. Oscillator combinations, envelope shapes, modulation, and register were adapted to the TEO-5’s own synthesis engine, then refined through hardware listening sessions.
The bank uses the TEO-5’s filter, modulation matrix, onboard effects, velocity, and aftertouch. Vintage is more generous in the Oberheim and CS-80 sections, while the Juno and JX sounds keep a tighter character. Selected patches introduce gentle vibrato after the note has settled; others keep that movement under the wheel.
Some sounds take a more direct TEO-5 approach. 709 “J106 Steel Drums”, for example, was revoiced with FM to give the attack and ringing body more definition.
04A few places to start
- 101 · XA Brass Ensemble — broad Oberheim brass, with pressure opening the tone.
- 501 · J60 Strings 1 — a classic Juno-style ensemble for held chords and simple melodic lines.
- 507 · J60 Piano 1 — a synthetic piano voice with a clear initial pitch and gentle delayed vibrato.
- 701 · J106 Moving Strings — animated strings with the TEO-5’s own chorus.
- 901 · JX Cathedral — a spacious JX-derived sound for sustained harmony.
- B05 · JP8 Cars Sync — Jupiter-inspired oscillator-sync movement.
- C06 · SH Flute — a mono voice whose vibrato enters gently as the note is held.
- D01 · CS Dawn Brass — a slow brass swell that opens with pressure.
Try the mod wheel and aftertouch, and give the slower patches time to develop. Most polyphonic sounds use the TEO-5’s five voices; the SH-101 section is programmed for one-voice mono playing. The included patch guide lists each sound’s controls and source.
05Download & load
Revision R3 includes the latest tuning, modulation, and envelope refinements. Stored-program readbacks from the TEO-5 match all 256 patches in the complete bank file.
- Unzip the download. For all 256 sounds, use
TEO5_Vintage_256_FULL_USER_MEMORY.syx. To load one bank at a time, use the files inBanks_16_Patches. - Connect the TEO-5 by USB. In Globals, set MIDI SysEx On to On and MIDI SysEx Cable to USB.
- Send the chosen file with a SysEx sender or librarian. Select the TEO-5 as the MIDI output and allow about 300 ms between complete patch messages.
- Recall a patch from user memory and play. The full-bank and individual bank files write stored programs directly; they do not require a separate Write operation.
Destinations are embedded in the files. Selecting a different patch on the synth does not redirect the transfer. Send either the complete file or the individual banks you want; the archive’s smaller revision files are optional updates, not additional banks. Files in Audition_Edit_Buffers are temporary previews and do require Write if you want to save them.
For the synth’s full MIDI and SysEx settings, see the Oberheim TEO-5 user manual.
06Sources & credits
The collection draws on vintage factory patch sheets, publicly available program data, and instrument manuals. The CS-80 section consists of inspired designs. Individual source references and adaptation notes are included in the downloadable patch guide.
